Make a Father's Day Card!

Father's Day is this Sunday, June 17, 2012. Come to the Pittsfield Branch and make a card for dad, grandpa, or favorite uncle.
Saturday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. we'll have all the glue, scissors and art supplies out for you to create a card with the most
heart-felt sentiment. For preschool and up. All ages are invited and all supplies will be provided.

Make a Mother's Day Card!

Come to the Pittsfield Branch Library on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. to make
a card for your mom, grandma and favorite aunt. You can also make a giant tissue paper flower to present with your card. This program is for preschoolers through fifth graders but all ages are welcome. Supplies will be provided.

National Library Week Event: Papermaking From Pulp To Sheet

Celebrate National Library Week by learning how to make paper (and even put a few seeds in it)! If you want, you can bury the paper in the spring and grow some flowers!

This event is for adults and teens (grade 6 and up).

Life-Size Candyland Game

Chocolate swamp, lollipop forest, the gumdrop guy . . . do you remember all those places and characters?

Come to the Pittsfield Branch on Tuesday, April 3 sometime between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m and take your turn along the multi-colored path of the Candyland game. You will be the moving game piece. There will be a reward when you make it all the way through.

This is for grades K - 5. Younger children will need their adults with them at all times. There will be excellent photo opportunities!

We will have all kinds of board games here at the Library for you to play as you await your turn through Candyland.

Author Brandon Mull at AADL

Calling all fantasy fans and writers-in-training. Author Brandon Mull will be at the Pittsfield Branch on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. He'll be talking about his books and his writing process.

Mr. Mull is the author of the Fablehaven series. He is touring because of the March 13 release of Seeds of Rebellion, the second title of his The Beyonders series.

Books will be on sale at the event, courtesy of our local Barnes and Noble bookstore.

Make a Valentine's Day Card for that Special Someone!

We'll also be making large tissue paper flowers. All supplies will be provided. This is for preschool - grade 5.

Fabric Printing Workshop

At this hands-on workshop you’ll get a chance to pull your own screen printed tea towel to take home. We’ll also get you caught up on all things related to printing up stylish towels. Hand printed tea towels are a great way to add a bit of whimsy to one’s kitchen, as they’re both colorful and creative!

We’ll also have linoleum blocks carved and ready for you to use to stamp a design onto a fat quarter of fabric. You can then do what you will with the fabric! You can use it in a plethora of handmade projects, including: A throw pillow, a bag, a placemat, for appliques, and more. It’s up to you. You’ll leave the workshop with a tea towel and a fat quarter, ready to add some sparkle to your abode.

To expand upon the joy of printing on fabric, here are some crafty books to get you going.

This DIY event is for grade 6 – Adult, and takes place at Pittsfield on Tuesday, February 7, from 7-8:30pm.

Once Upon a Winter's Day

Join us on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pittsfield Branch Library for a family storytime. What a cozy way to spend
an afternoon! We'll tell stories, sing songs, and drink hot chocolate. Then we'll make some cute stuffed snow people. Bring the whole family!

Baby Bits - Dancing Babies on Saturday

DANCING BABIES is a family event for "the Five and Under" crowd.
Gari Stein will lead the program Saturday morning, January 14, 2012, at the Pittsfield Branch Library. Young "Twinkle Toes" families are invited to "Polish and Shine" muscles and voices at this popular Preschool Music and Motion Program. The program will begin at 11:00 am and end by 11:45 am.
It has the makings for one Happy Day!
