PreK Bits - "H" is for Happy HOME !

Ms. Rachel's Storytime Theme this week was House and Home.
First ... WE WERE TIRED Of LIVING IN A HOUSE ... "so we moved out!"
psst! The books are wearing out ... but you can still get a copy from another Library through MelCat.
We played "Up The Hill And Down The Hill" ... a story with fingers, hands and arms.
Then I was SITTING IN MY BOX ... just Me. Folks began to knock. "May I come in?"
... well of course, I moved over!

PreK Bits - "C" is for CARROT

Ms. Rachel's StoryTime theme this week was CARROTS.
You cannot have too many carrots, in Rabbit's opinion!

In the story The CARROT SEED and in Spanish Language LA SEMILLA De ZANAHORIA ... a little boy plants a carrot seed.
In the story CARROT SOUP ... Rabbit plants carrots in the spring to have carrot soup in the fall.
Then what happens? In the story TOO MANY CARROTS ... Rabbit has a social skills lesson with hoarding.

PreK Bits - "A" is for APPLES

Ms. Rachel presented an apple theme in Storytime this week.
FARMER DOOGIE … took care of all the chores on the farm. "Then what did Farmer Doogie Do?"
We clapped out letters to the “Apple Bingo” song … A-P-P-L-E !!
APPLE PIE … "Botheration!" That enormous juicy apple is up so high. However can we get it and put it in our pie?

Ms. Rachel and Ms. Betsy brought "Bs" to Storytime.
“Happy Birthday” is from DOG And BEAR: TWO Is COMPANY ... a book with three "Dog & Bear" stories together. They are best buddies!
“My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean” … a song about “B”
There is a BROWN BEAR In A BROWN CHAIR ... and nobody sees her sitting there. The problem gets solved "Beautifully!"

PreK Bits - Ice Cream !!

Ms. Rachel brought stories of ICE CREAM to Preschool Storytime.
WEMBERLY’S ICE CREAM STAR by Kevin Henkes ... is about a tea party for two ... and one ice cream cone.
We also went to the ice cream shop named FIFTEEN FLAVORS … an story passed from one Librarian-To-Another.
We wiggled, hopped, marched, and stopped "around the block" ... to the action song “Walk, Walk, Walk”.
You can find this song on the CD recording HONK HONK RATTLE RATTLE by Richele Bartkowiak.

PreK Bits - "I" is for INSECTS

The Letter Carrier delivered letter “I” to the Letter Box this week.
Ms. Rachel and Ms. Betsy used "I" for an INSECT theme.
Elephant says, GO TO SLEEP GECKO … there are fireflies and mosquitoes ... for very good reasons.
"Sometimes you just have to put up with them."
We chased “Fireflies On The Hill” as recorded by Lena on the CD HAPPY AS CLAMS.
And then GOLLY GUMP SWALLOWED A FLY … unfortunately !!

"W" is for Wet and Windy Weather

Ms. Rachel brought stories of wet and windy weather to Preschool Storytime.
“The Wind And The Clothes” and … “Spring Showers” are two stories in the beginning reader WAITING For SPRING by Bethany Roberts.
WAITING For SPRING is out-of-print and the AADL copies are worn out =-(
You can still borrow it through MelCat.
The stories are as charming as Arnold Lobel’s beginning reader tales with Frog & Toad and Mouse Tales and the pictures are also charming for lap-time..

Ms. Rachel brought stories of valuable things to Preschool Storytime @ Malletts Creek Branch Library.
SOMETHING From NOTHING … is from Jewish oral tradition. Grandfather makes a beautiful blanket when Joseph is born.
The baby gift turns into something even more valuable ... a family story.
In BUNNY MONEY … Max and Ruby set out to buy a birthday present for grandmother and they manage successfully.

PreK BITS - "T" is for "troubles"

Ms. Rachel was visited by “troubles” at Storytime at Malletts this week.
There were bug troubles in SOUP For ONE … spiders are NOT trouble … unless you’re a bug (or afraid of spiders) ... or in the soup!
Ms. Betsy and Ms. Rachel helped the kids chase “Fireflies” ... as sung by Lena on the CD HAPPY AS CLAMS.
Fireflies are fun, but it’s troublesome to have to let them go.
We took a walk ONCE AROUND The BLOCK. Beatrice had a “troubled” afternoon until she took a walk … “once around the block”.
This book is out of print and AADL has no copies left. That's trouble.
BUT ... the resolution is … You can still find a copy by Kevin Henkes and Victoria Chess and borrow it through Melcat.
