I Can Hear the Sun

Here is your opportunity to give your two cents worth to Wild Swan Theater on their new production of I Can Hear the Sun on Thursday at 7 pm. Children in fourth grade and older are invited to hear short readings and some music from the play and then give feedback. Wild Swan and friends will be delighted to see you there!

Halloween celebration @ AADL!

Yeehaw! Join us the morning of October 31 for Halloween themed stories and songs! Put on your costume and be ready for fun with fall stories and silly songs to get you in gear before you head over to Main St. to join in on the Halloween treat parade that runs from 11am-5pm. After our special storytime you'll also be able to trick for some treats at the library!

Halloween at the Library!

Halloween is a great holiday for all ages to celebrate, and the AADL has excellent resources to help you make this Halloween especially fun! Browse in our Halloween section to find books like Tricks and Treats: The Ultimate Halloween Book, A Halloween How-To: Costumes, Parties, Decorations an Destinations, and Halloween: The Best of Martha Stewart Living.

Check out our music collection to find Halloween CDs to help set the scene for a Halloween party or to play while kids get ready for trick-or-treating. We have Spooky Scary Sounds for Halloween, Andrew Gold’s Halloween Howls, 57 Kids Greatest Halloween Songs, Games and Stories, and many other Halloween-themed CDs.

We have tons of Halloween picture books for kids in our youth Holiday section, and we have a number of youth-oriented Halloween events this year, too. There will be two Halloween Parties on October 31st downtown, from 9:30 to 10:00AM and from 10:30 to 11:00AM, and a Halloween Story Time at our Pittsfield Branch that evening from 7:00 to 7:30PM, where kids will be able to hear Halloween stories and make a craft. Come celebrate with us!

Join us for one of the world's most popular games with players of all ages and abilities! Chess sets are provided. Challenge old friends and meet new ones!

Check out some of our newer titles to hone your skills. These include Chess: 5334 Problems, Combinations and Games, and Fighting chess with Magnus Carlsen. While you’re at Traverwood take a look at Chess Life for Kids located just outside the program room. It is filled with all star players, strategies, and tips. Chess sets are provided.

Join us Thursday at our Pittsfield branch, where we'll kick off the event with rhymes and music, then give you and baby time to poke around our iPads!
