I think so too! A lot of significant progress came out of the 1960s. Let's hope for even more.

This is just awesome. I love that it's a girl living in Detroit in the 1960s. Such a pivotal time period in history for this whole area. I also love that all the kids who attended the drawing for the dolls at the Detroit library got copies of Melody's books (According to the Free Press article). What a great way to get kids into reading. :)

Love this idea. All kids should know at least some Motown music. A huge part of local history to be proud of.

I totally agree with you, it should be one of the things that children learn about. Wonderful chapter of history and wonderful music on top of that. I'm so glad that my brother has a very eclectic taste in music and is exposing my niece and nephew to great music like Motown music and little bits from the 50s thru today.
