Description
Enjoy the sounds of music from Africa!
Sunkwa was established in 1999 and is comprised of six musicians to explore jazz, pop and world music. The group combines traditional instruments of West Africa, like the gyil (ancient xylophone from Ghana) along with percussion, brass and guitar. The music has its roots in Ghana, but is infused with an exciting variety of world beat rhythms.
Sunkwa's sounds fuse world xylophone music traditions from various parts of Africa, a unique combination of ancient mallet keyboard and a modern team of dynamo performers.
