Teach your kids to read pictures! It’s important too! submitted by rea2mill on July 7, 2022, 9:13pm I love wordless books. They give young learners an opportunity to really learn about visual communication which is woefully under-taught in a society with as much advertising as we are bombarded with. I will always advocate for giving your child a book with a story told with just pictures. Okay, I’ve admitted my bias.
I thought Spot the cat was pretty good, but not quite at the level of some of the best wordless books out there. The story was rather simple. However, Spot the Cat has one lovely thing going for it which will draw your kids in again and again; you have to find Spot on most of the pages, and like Waldo he’s pretty well hidden. So even if the story isn’t super exciting, this book will draw your young learner in and hopefully the simple story will help them start their journey towards learning about visual communication. Please give your kids wordless books. They’re so important!
