funny! submitted by manz on July 3, 2015, 7:36pm This is a funny picture book! Even without pictures. It's great to read to early elementary age kids. Be prepared to laugh.

Cute! submitted by Beth Manuel on August 4, 2015, 9:40am This book is a fun one to read aloud. So I did. No one on the bus complained.;)

Warning!! submitted by collemc on June 17, 2016, 1:00pm Warning. Be careful parents. I think all kids should hear this book.

My daughter's favorite book submitted by ejmarcash on July 22, 2016, 9:55pm My daughter loved this book so much I had to go out and buy it so she could share it with her class. I tried to stall until the book was back at the library but it is too popular! Be sure to change up your voice to maximize the giggles.

vary funny submitted by XKEAP on July 1, 2017, 3:14pm I love the book with no pictures is so funny that the first time I herd it I was cacking up

Crowd Pleaser submitted by Mandyghutton on July 5, 2017, 10:30pm This book will turn any grouchy kid at bedtime into a giggly happy kid. But warning: your kid might start calling their friends / siblings / parents "Boo Boo Butt"!

funny submitted by Claire Jiang on July 15, 2018, 1:53pm i think this book is very funny.

Great book submitted by maggie_aa on July 22, 2018, 8:17pm Good picture book

Great book submitted by Cihendricks on August 4, 2018, 5:21pm Kids love it, and as an adult it's hard to not love it too.

Great submitted by jw on August 11, 2018, 3:15pm A great book for all ages

Amazingly fun submitted by Claireywang on August 17, 2018, 9:32pm I really like this book because it has a lot of funny things in it and little “side comments” that make it interesting. It’s funny to read (especially out loud) and is also great to have an innocent, unsuspecting adult to read to you. If you are a kid and haven’t read this book, be sure to have your parents check it out and then read it to you!

Unstoppable submitted by lylee1001 on August 23, 2018, 10:23am Kids love this one. It fun to read as an adult. (It does wear eventually.)

Brilliant submitted by Zekicmom on July 18, 2019, 4:57pm My nephew literally fell of the couch laughing when listening to this book. It must be read out loud, and whoever is doing the reading must put aside any inhabitions they’ve got and just have at it. The book is silly and fun, even read over and over again.

funny submitted by andye on August 3, 2019, 2:41pm this is probably my favorite book because it is funny

hilarious submitted by .-.-.-. on June 24, 2021, 6:57pm Very funny book. I enjoyed this one a lot. A must read.

Kids love it! submitted by Hiromi Kaneko on June 29, 2021, 12:12am That’s exciting to turn pages.

Meant for Reading Aloud, Not Silently submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2021, 2:49pm It’s important to know going in that this is a book specifically tailored for reading aloud, as it casts the reader in the role of a reluctant narrator. Because the book’s running gag revolves specifically around the reader, it is a particularly good choice for teaching emerging readers about books in a subtle way that will have listeners in stitches. The book could become a bit repetitive, depending on the reader and audience, but lovers of pure silliness will get a real kick out of it.

Well submitted by jibkidder on June 16, 2022, 10:24pm There is a space in our closet where we hide children's books that we don't enjoy reading, our copy of this book is often hiding there. There is a website called doesthedogdie.com and its purpose is to enumerate the presence of various triggers in movies, so that people can avoid those triggers if they want to. It's crowdsourced, so people who have seen a movie can answer a list of yes or no questions about the movie e.g. does a dog die? is a person misgendered? is there spitting or farts? One of the questions is "is the fourth wall broken"? in this particular book, I don't think the fourth wall is broken, exactly, but there is something very similar to the fourth wall being broken. I eventually came to learn that the premise exists in a much earlier book, featuring someone from Sesame Street, I think Grover, called "There is a Monster In This Book" or "The monster at the end of this book". It also has a sequel. Not that either of these two books are as annoying to a an adult reading them as "The Book With No Pictures". I guess the wall that I think is broken is the one in between the adult reader's identity and the identity of the author. Anyways, young enough children are guaranteed to cackle at this awful book I hope to never read aloud again.

Great read aloud! submitted by tuttlium on July 15, 2022, 7:00pm I (Eleanor, age 6) really like it and it's really funny. Because it says "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!" And there's a monkey that's a robot.

super fun book submitted by Shasha81 on August 23, 2022, 2:17pm My daughter read it several times and let me read it over and over

Funny submitted by aylinjerkins on July 4, 2023, 9:21pm This book keeps the kids engaged and makes everyone laugh!

Book for all ages submitted by disneyprincess1993 on July 6, 2023, 8:29pm I was nervous to read this book to my young children without it having pictures. The book had my kids and myself laughing the whole way through. No pictures, no problem! Very entertaining read!

Hilarious submitted by Mila Hunsinger on July 11, 2023, 3:33pm I read this book for the first time when I was very little, and I begged my parents to get it out of the library all the time. It is very amusing, and I think people of all ages will enjoy it, particularly the little ones.

Funny read aloud submitted by denisekim on July 28, 2023, 8:38pm A little painful to read, but gosh my kids love it! They quote it all the time and have sentences memorized

One of my daughter's favorite picture books submitted by ksullivan on August 2, 2023, 11:23am My daughter (now age 11) loved this book when she was younger. You MUST READ THIS BOOK ALOUD. NO EXCUSES. Warning: You will be turned into a robot monkey. If you love pure silliness this book is definitely for you. Me and my husband enjoyed reading it and my daughter loved listened and, no matter how many times she hears it, she still dissolves into laughter at hearing us say a line from The Book With No Pictures. 100% recommended for all.

Storytime winner submitted by journeyhawthorne on November 6, 2023, 2:02pm I love reading this one for storytimes, especially for kids who are beginning readers. It's incredibly silly, and the giggles are worth playing up the text. Some grown-ups may object to the slight potty humor, but... Let's be real. Kids are going to say things like "boo-boo butt" anyway. As others have mentioned, this one is squarely in the "read aloud" category--reading it silently to one's self is nowhere nearly as enjoyable as hearing someone perform it.
