fun story submitted by camelsamba on June 19, 2014, 1:14pm Overall, we enjoyed the story. I appreciated the sprinklings of advanced vocabulary words. I loved how the various story lines came together in the climax. And I appreciate how Chap still got the swamp, despite his noble choice to eschew the easy way. The humor and writing style made for good read-aloud (although my son occasionally asked 'does it really say that?' in response to her parentheticals). But the quick cuts between plot lines was distracting and disconcerting (chapters average 3 pages; most chapters switch POV). It took me a while to get into it, but I'm glad we stuck it out.

And it loses another star (or half) because it doesn't include a recipe for sugar pie. What is this concoction? Is it kind of like shoo-fly pie, only fried? Or something completely imaginary?
