Smart submitted by gsb03 on August 10, 2011, 7:21pm 2 kids run away to the metropolitan museum of arts. A great story!

interesting submitted by watermelon on August 9, 2012, 4:49pm an unusual twist on running away, some art history and mystery involved

:) submitted by Lizzy on August 12, 2013, 3:31pm truly fabulous book

Love it submitted by amym on July 24, 2014, 1:14pm I read this book when it first came out in 1967. It was an unusual book at the time, talking about kids who had some troubles in their lives. I zipped through it in one day and still remember it fondly.

Intriguing submitted by Lucy S on July 27, 2014, 4:45am Makes you want to get lost in a museum!

Dated but Good submitted by kathscot on August 13, 2014, 7:52am Some of the details are 45 years old, but it still feels like a story that could have happened. I'd like to know Claudia and Jamie as friends.

intrigue and adventure submitted by camelsamba on August 17, 2015, 8:49pm We listened to this as a book on CD on a recent trip, and it was a big hit with all (two parents, boys aged 15 & 12). It is interesting to observe the relationship between Claudia and Jamie - their personalities are so different, yet they're able to appreciate those differences and work together. It also offers a few life lessons about enjoying the mysterious and unknown. Plus who hasn't looked at a fountain full of coins and thought about funding their next meal?

fun tho a little dated submitted by 21621031390949 on August 12, 2016, 9:02am This is a Newberry Award winner from 1960-something. At the time it came out, it was probably an innovative little book - adventurous but imperfect kid heroes, a funny tale. But now it's dated and it just hasn't held up to the test of time.

Excellent book! submitted by wysea on July 9, 2018, 10:38pm This book is so interesting and fun to read!

Classic submitted by zmclaugh on July 30, 2018, 4:46pm This is a classic book and so much fun.

So Cool! submitted by AJ Chen on August 6, 2018, 11:23am This book is a story about two kids escaping from normal life to live in a museum. They find a mystery or two and try to solve it.

pretty good submitted by .-.-.-. on June 22, 2019, 1:19pm Great story with good characters. It felt like a great setting to run away to the museum. If you enjoy mysteries (especially about art), then I would recommend this.

Good submitted by sydcha on August 4, 2019, 1:37pm Kids fiction at its finest, this book is a classic. It will leave you wanting more, but also satisfied with a well developed story.

From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler submitted by Varshini on August 30, 2019, 9:41pm This was my absolute favorite book in 3rd grade. It's a story of two siblings who run away from home and live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Wow submitted by ann arbor air on June 12, 2021, 6:17pm Wow this was incredible great to see a great thing for this summer! I needed this thanks for making it 10/10 U

A desire to be different submitted by trina05 on July 2, 2021, 10:31pm It’s an interesting and quick read.

Sweet story submitted by delaflynn on August 15, 2021, 12:38pm It isn't the best story I've ever read but I have to admit that it was nice. Enjoyed reading it to my friends.

Amazing submitted by Liat Hammer on June 13, 2022, 7:43pm It is very cool that they could escape from people for 3 nights!

Yes. Read it. submitted by yigaadli on July 29, 2022, 10:42am I think I first saw this book in around fourth grade. But, I was uninterested, because I was the kind of person who judged a book by its cover. I didn't even bother to read the blurb on the back! Fast forward 3 years later, I find it in the library, and decide to read it. It was a great book. Very entertaining. Judging by the wording and such, probably targeted towards a younger audience... But still enjoyable by anyone. :)
I think it would be really funny and a big hit if they created a modern version.

MUST READ submitted by czadams on August 28, 2022, 6:43pm This is such a great book. We read it for read-aloud at school. I love the adventure and the things they learn at the museum. It made me think of museums as fun rather than boring.

Wow! submitted by Josephine on June 9, 2023, 9:07pm This is a awesome book, I was actually engaged in it. I love how the story played out, a must read.
